1.4542 ist ein nichtrostender aushärtbarer martensitischer Chrom-Nickel-Stahl mit Niob stabilisiert. Der Werkstoff erreicht im ausgehärteten Zustand sehr hohe Streckgrenzen.Durch seine guten Eigenschaften wie der hohe Verschleißwiderstand und der guten Korrosionsbeständigkeit, findet der Werkstoff in einer Vielzahl von Industrien Anwendung.Wie zum Beispiel in der Luft und Raumfahrt oder im Anlagenbau.1.4542 wird im lösungsgeglühten Zustand und auch im ausgehärtetem Zustand geliefert. Im ausgehärtetem Zustand sind verschieden Festigkeitsstufen und die damit verbunden mechanischen Eigenschaften definiert.
